Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, March 17, with visitation prior to the service from 10 a.m.-noon at American Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery in Montgomery.
David was born Sept. 25, 1960 in Montgomery and grew up in military communities all over the United States. He graduated from Enterprise High School in 1978 and from Auburn University in 1983. He went to work with the Farm Services Agency of the federal government after graduation and worked there until his retirement in 2017. He served with the FSA in Monroe, Chilton, Autauga and Elmore counties.
While working in the Montgomery area he met and fell in love with Carrie McBride of Fayetteville, NC. They were married on Dec. 21, 1996 and had two sons, Travis and Christian.
David was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He adored his family and loved spending time with Carrie and the boys. His children were the light of his life and he enjoyed watching his sons grow up and teaching them to hunt and fish or watch them playing soccer. During these last few years as he was battling cancer, David was a spiritual leader for his family and would read his Bible while receiving treatments. He belonged to a men’s Bible study and enjoyed meeting and learning with this group. He had a great sense of humor and was fun to be with, always having a funny comment, a corny joke or an entertaining story to tell.
David bled orange and blue and was an avid Auburn fan, following the Tigers every Saturday during football season. His Auburn roots run deep as his grandfather, father and others in his family graduated from the university.
David was preceded in death by his father, Henry Moody, and his mother, Susie Colson. He is survived by his wife, Carrie of Pike Road; his sons Travis and Christian, also of Pike Road; his brother Frank Moody of Nashville, TN; his aunt, Rosa Quattlebaum of Enterprise and uncle Dan Gissendanner (Margaret) of Anderson, SC.; his cousins, Caroline Quattlebaum of Enterprise, Russell Quattlebaum (Jeanna) of Enterprise, Jane Powell of Leeds, Tommy Lucas of Childersburg and Rita Stewart of Sylacauga.
