Helen Lankford passed away on June 29, 2023, in Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 95. She was born on February 3, 1928, in Leakesville, Mississippi where she grew up. In 1948 she married Glen Lamar Lankford. They lived in Mobile, Alabama before moving to Montgomery 66 years ago.
Helen was the daughter of Samuel Wakefield Ball and Lula Hardman Ball. She is survived by her sons Terrell (Julie) and Phillip (Jana); and grandsons Drew (Whitney), Tyler, Brett (Claire), Peyton and Pierce; and four great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Glen Lankford; her parents, Sam and Lula Ball; her daughter-in-law, Katie Lankford; and her brother, Wakefield Ball.
She faithfully served the Lord all of her life. Helen was active in WMU, Sunday school, women’s ministries, and older adult ministries at Morningview Baptist Church for 50 years and at Eastern Hills Baptist Church for the last 16 years. She and Glen enjoyed going on mission trips around the country to help with other churches. They shared a joy for camping, particularly in the Smoky Mountains. She was an avid gardener all of her life and loved taking care of her flowers. At the age of 93, she had the yard of the month in Deer Creek. Most of all, she loved the Lord and her family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Frazer Church in the chapel at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage. Her five grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
