Hallie Frances Blake, age 89, a longtime resident of Montgomery, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 6, 2012. She was born on July 16, 1923 in Brownsville, PA. Mrs. Blake was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Buford Blake. She is survived by her sons, John M. Blake (Charlotte) of Montgomery, AL and David A. Blake (Mary Ann) of Waverly, AL; and four grandchildren, Michelle Studdard (Phillip), Bonnie Montgomery (Chris), Paul Blake (Amy) and Leah Danielle Blake. Survivors also include eight great-grandchildren: John Thomas, Chappell and Jack Studdard, Anne Blakely, Mary Katherine and Reid Montgomery and Isabella and Hayden Blake. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Jackson Hospital’s 3 East and Alacare Health and Hospice. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at White Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Cliff Stever officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Hanson, Phillip Studdard, Chris Montgomery, Paul Blake, Walter Kelly and John Thomas Studdard. Honorary pallbearer will be Stan Burnett. Mrs. Blake was a devoted member and much loved servant at Yarbrough Street Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher there for over thirty years and served her church in many other ways up until her illness. Her love for others could also be seen in her volunteer efforts at Crowne Nursing Home and in delivering meals to shut-ins with Meals on Wheels. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to Alacare Health and Hospice or Yarbrough Street Baptist Church.
