David Lee Carr, (65), of League City, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2024. David was born to William (“Bill”) and Helen Carr, on October 11, 1958, in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a talented athlete who loved playing sports including football during his years at Clear Creek High School, graduating in 1977, and into college at Southern Arkansas University from 1977-1979. Shortly after college, David proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from May 4, 1981, to October 26, 1984, retiring as Lance Corporal. David followed in his father’s footsteps leading a lifelong career in petroleum pipeline, retiring in March 2023. David began his career in the pipeline during a summer internship at the age of 16, continuing on for 44 years with the same company, Amoco (BP/Magellan Midstream.)
His only child, LeAnne Carr, was born in 1983, with whom he shared a special bond. During LeAnne’s childhood, David shared his love and knowledge for sports, specifically Alabama football, by coaching many little league teams across multiple sports, including a number of her teams. As LeAnne grew up, the strength in the father-daughter bond grew deeper through life’s big changes including moves across the country, career choices, and losses of loved ones. In all the changes, David provided an unmatched support and love for his daughter.
Over the years, David built an array of hobbies from being an avid science-fiction and fantasy novel reader, to building an impressive gun and knife collection, and enjoying the multiple Chicago drama TV series.
Most of all, David was a joyous and kind man who often quoted the saying, “You have to enjoy life,” which he put into practice everyday. David’s joy of life is carried on by his daughter, LeAnne, and his brother, William “Ray” Carr, along with many extended family members and friends. Preceding him in peace are his parents, Bill and Helen, as well as many beloved cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. To honor David’s memory, a service will be held at Leak Memory in Montgomery, AL, on Friday, September 27, at 11:00 a.m. and a celebration of life at Esteban’s Fiesta Shack in League City, Texas, on Saturday, October 26, at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choosing in David’s name or plant a tree in his honor.
