Born Sept 21, 1953, in Kingsport, TN, 'Chuck' graduated from Carroll High in Ozark, AL. He played basketball at Enterprise Junior College and graduated an avid 'War Eagle' fan from Auburn University in 1975. He was a 20-year veteran of the US Army rising to the rank of Major. He served multiple tours in Europe and in stateside assignments and received Meritorious Service Medals and many other decorations and medals indicative of a stellar military career. After retiring from the Army, he developed properties and owned and operated a tire and auto business. He was employed by Bullet Resistant Glass, USA, since 2009.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lynis White Cox; daughter, Kim (Pat) Moates; son, Aaron (Ashley) Cox; mother Georgia Parks Cox; brother Jackie Neal Cox; seven grandchildren
Harris, Mason, Morgan and Marlee Moates; Connor, Reagan and Josh Cox; uncles Robert (Phyllis) Parks and Billy Jack (Wilma) Cox; aunt Sue Peters; mother-in-law Catherine White; brothers-in-law David (Sylvia) White and Alec (Lisa) White; close cousins Greg and Ted Cornett, Beth (Donald) Porter, Robin (Philippe) Poget, Jennifer (Mike) Hopkins, Teresa (Bill) Cubertson, Billy Jack Jr and Jason Cox. He enjoyed outings with nieces and nephews Chad (Tiffany) White, Alexa (Rolando) Torres, Kathy (Mark) Powers, Lori Andress, Richard (Sarah) Smith, Raymond Smith. He is preceded to heaven by his dad, Charles L. Cox, Sr.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 1 PM, at St. James United Methodist Church, followed by his Life Celebration Service at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church - 9045 Vaughn Road - Montgomery, AL 36117.
