Alabama passed away Thursday evening December 13, 2012 after
an extended illness. Mr. Cowan was born on July 2, 2012 to the
late Claude and Valerie Cowan. He was preceded in death by his
wife Ann B. Cowan of Montgomery in 2OO6. He is survived by one
daughter, Mary Ann Hankins (Jerry), son, Charles L. "Chip" Cowan,
Jr. (Kim), five grandchildren, Ann Marie Moseley (Jay), Jacqueline
Broderick (Bryan), J.T. Hankins, Jr. (Leigh), Wes Cowan, Blair
Cowan and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Cowan leaves two
Brothers, Hugh Cowan of Pensacola, Florida and Billy Cowan (Gayle)
of Montgomery, one niece and six nephews.
Mr. Cowan was a proud veteran having served his country in
theater during the Korean conflict with the United States Army. He
was awarded the bronze star for his service and received an
honorable discharge after the war. On his return to Montgomery
Mr. Cowan started a long career with Long-McGhee Electric
Company.
Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Monday,
December 17, 2O12 at 9:30am with a graveside service
following at ll:00am in Greenwood Cemetery conducted by
Reverend Mike King of the First Baptist Church of Opelika,
Alabama. Pallbearers will be Wes Cowan, J.T. Hankins, Jr., Jay
Moseley, Bryan Broderick, Todd Cowan and Brian Cowan.
