Barbara "Bobbie" Wilson was born September 16, 1937 in Fayette County, Georgia, daughter of Andrew Loyd Yarbrough and Roxie Jewell Farr Yarbrough. She attended school in Fairburn, Georgia, where she graduated from Campbell High School in 1955. She worked at Nalley Chevrolet in Atlanta. On June 22, 1958 she married Buddy Martin Wilson of East Point, GA. She was the mother of daughter Angeleisha Wilson Hood and son Michael David Wilson.
Nicknamed “Bobbie”, she worked at Gayfers at Eastdale Mall from 1988 until 1999 when she retired from then Dillard's. She was a devoted member of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church for 41 years, serving in several areas such as membership, food pantry, and hospital visitation, a member of the YMCA, and she a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a devoted supporter of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite organizations. While her children were growing up Bobbie was a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, a Rainbow Girl adult advisor, a longtime DeMolay supporter, and a Lee High School Band Booster. Bobbie played the piano, the tuba, loved music and she enjoyed gardening. She loved wildlife and pets and nurtured orphan wildlife and strays.
Survivors include devoted husband Buddy Wilson, sister Virginia Nestlehutt, daughter Angie Hood (John), son Michael Wilson (Brandy), five grandchildren, two bonus grandchildren, three grandchildren by marriage, four nieces, and countless cousins and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 20 at 10 am, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with the celebration of life service to follow at 11. Donations to a favorite charity in her memory, or flowers are optional.
