Ann Louise Kline went on August 23, 2022, to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ann was born on December 25, 1939, to Forrest and Helen Henry. She graduated from Kewanee, Illinois, High School in 1958, then attended the University of Kansas, and moved from Columbia, Missouri in 1975 with her husband and children. She completed her bachelor’s at Huntingdon College, and her master’s in counseling at Troy University.
Ann Kline changed many lives. She brought hundreds to the Lord and helped many who had gone through setbacks, losses, and failures to get their lives on track. Her Singles Program at Frazer Methodist Church in the 80’s and early 90’s served thousands. Around 300 people attended the Prime Time Singles Sunday School Class, and nearly 150 attended the Young Singles Class. Furthermore, 500-600 Single Adults from the region regularly attended her TNT (Tuesday Night Together) gatherings, which consisted of an evening meal and numerous small groups for Singles, Singles Again, and Children of single parents. One year, over 80 members of her Singles Program married others in the program. Some had met there; others brought their dates regularly. Many went on to occupy key leadership roles in the church, and it is impossible to measure the positive effect that she had on children from broken homes.
In addition to her ministry at Frazer, Ann was well-known and respected in Alabama. She was selected for an early Leadership Montgomery Class, and in 1988 she won first place in the State Toastmistress Speaking Contest. Ann Kline was on many boards and committees including chairing the Governor’s Drug and Alcohol Abuse program, serving on the boards of the Family Sunshine Center, Partners in Education, and the Family Guidance Center. She spoke nationwide and overseas with her husband on Communication in Marriage. She also went on several mission trips, including two weeks in Russia soon after the iron curtain was lifted.
Ann will be missed by many including her five children: Mrs. Missy (Lee) Mills of Bessemer, Alabama; Mrs. Nanette (Laird) Hitchcock of Panama City, Florida, David Kline of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Marc (Barbara) Boyd of Fairhope, Alabama, Mrs. Teri (Hank) Henley of Houston, Alabama, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and a host of friends; but no one will miss her more than her husband, John, who lavished his love on her, especially during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s. When John’s Facebook Posts during the time of the Covid crisis went viral and on to national TV, people learned how they saw each other every day through the window or on Facetime. Then after restrictions were lifted, it was back to three-hour visits each day. Millions knew of their great love for each other and love of their family.
Services will be Thursday September 1, 2022. Visitation will be in the Frazer Methodist Church Parlor 9:00 a.m. —11:00 a.m. with the Celebration Service in the main Worship Center at 11 a.m. Memorials may be sent to Frazer in Memory of Ann Kline.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.AlabamaHeritageFH.com for the Kline family.
