Richard Lee Thompson

Richard has been reunited with his beloved wife of 50 years, Marsha Vines Thompson. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elva Thompson and sibling, Donna Dickson.

Richard had a long career at Bryant and Company, which he was very proud of. After retirement, he and his wife, Marsha, spent their time sailing around the world on cruise ships. They enjoyed going to Mexico, the Bahamas and just anywhere the boat could take them. Eventually they moved to the lake where Richard loved fishing with his family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father and “Poppy” to his family. Richard was also an active member at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Jerry Thompson (Terry), Greg Thompson (Lorrie), Richard Lee Thompson II (Barbara), Lee Ann Geeslin (Terry), and Cortney Boyd (Jerimy); grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Thompson, Kathryne Elizabeth Thompson, Leah Rose Thompson, Whitney Lee Thompson, Seth Caleb Smith, Dalton Allen Geeslin, Gage Tanner Geeslin, Brayden Alexander Plunkett, Carter Anderson Plunkett, Mark Lowry and Rachel Lowry; and great-grandson, Aston Bailey Pretnar.

A visitation for Richard will be held Monday, June 17, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, AL 35115. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home with the burial following at Ryan Cemetery, 12285-12353 Highway 17, Montevallo, AL 35115.
