Kenneth Lamar Mullins, age 93, lifelong resident of Helena, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Helena for his entire life where he served as a deacon and Elder. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. His legacy of service included his roles as Fire Chief, City Councilman, Civitan member and local grocery store owner. He was a generous Christian man, giving freely of his time and energy personally. Ken was always glad to share the bounty of his vegetable garden. He loved to golf, sing, and entertain others with his funny stories and jokes. He was fiercely dedicated to his family, and his memory will live in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Siddons Mullins. Left to treasure his memory are his sons, Phillip Mullins (Jennifer) of Rockport, TX and Kevin Mullins (Annette) of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, Timothy Mullins (Stephanie), Leigh Pounds (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Peyton and Preston Pounds; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Helena City Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/RockcoFuneralHome. Rev. Dwayne Pounds and Rev. Ted Peterson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be directed to the American Heart Association.
