She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Paul Reginald Hug and Patricia Hug. Jan leaves behind many loved ones. Surviving are her husband, Phillip Davis; daughters, Kacey (Jake) Sim and Taylor (Sam) Ginglesberger; grandchildren, Avery Kate Sim, Eli Gindlesberger, Ellie Gindlesberger and Anna Grace Sim; and sisters, Sherri Jo Booker and Melanie Walter.
Jan dedicated her life to serving and loving the people around her; first to her husband and daughters with an unwavering presence, to her beloved grandchildren with patience and playfulness, and to her community with generosity and faithfulness.
She was a longstanding and deeply committed member of Clanton First Methodist Church where she served in various capacities; including almost 20 years of service as the youth coordinator, where she found joy, hope, and purpose as “Mama Jan”.
She loved to read and had an enviable green thumb in her garden. In the sewing room of her dreams, she most recently began relearning the art of quilting. It’s hard to calculate the breadth of impact she had on the people around her, other than to say that a tapestry much larger, more beautiful, and more beloved than she would have admitted, was sewn together through the outworking of her life and love.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 at First Methodist Church of Clanton in Clanton, Alabama from 1pm - 3pm with a service to immediately follow at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jan's honor to DV8 Youth Ministries at First Methodist Church of Clanton.
