Donald Wayne Kirk, age 68, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at home with his family by his side. Donald was born November 25, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Arnold Kirk and Geneva Bible Kirk. Don was an author of all things fly fishing. He wrote the first Fly Fishing Guide to the Smoky Mountains National Park and countless articles about fly fishing under his name and many other names. Don was scheduled to be inducted in the Fly Fishing Hall of Fame of November 5, 2021. He had a big appetite for not only food, but also the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Leah Benet Taylor Kirk; his children, Jeff Kirk, Shae Kirk, Stephanie Kirk, Loryn Patterson and Adam Patterson; grandchildren, Jake Kirk, Taylor Kirk and Christian Miller; sisters, Carol Dick and Pamela Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will gather together to celebrate his memory in the near future in Tennessee.
