Left to treasure his memory is his only little girl, Melissa Martin; son-in-law, Victor Hudson; step-daughter, Belinda Smith (Keith); step-son, Stoney Perkins; 4 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Morgan and Jo Barnwell; nieces, Bonnie Barnwell and Lori Murray; nephews, Bobby Barnwell and Donald Summerton; and his best dog, JupJup.
Dickie Wayne was an outstanding father and loyal friend. He was friendly to everyone he met and loved to laugh and crack jokes. He loved to spend time outside with his daughter, whether going to the park with her and Vic, walking around the pool and sitting in the gazebo. They would laugh together as he always said the water looked cold, no matter how hot it was outside, and him trying to run away when she splashed him. Even until his last days, he wanted to be outside and help in the yard, even though he tired quickly. He loved to go fishing, patiently waiting for a bite even though he was just going to throw it back out. He loved grilling with family and watching Westerns. On Saturdays, he was ready for Alabama football. He would sit in the living room hollering at the TV with Vic, having the time of his life!
He loved and spoiled Melissa all her life. She will miss him being her alarm clock every day or him tip toeing around the house trying not to wake anyone or finding him watching Rambo or Men In Black for the 100th time. He was generous with the hugs and the compliments. Life will never be the same without Dad. He will be terribly missed, not just by her, but by many others.
A visitation for Dickie will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. The family requests guests dress comfortably in memory of Dickie and wearing a mask.
