Cathy was born October 10, 1954, to Reverend Billy Hardman and Joan Hardman in Alexander City, AL. Cathy’s intellectual curiosity and love of learning shaped her life. She studied mathematics and computer science at Samford University, fueling her passion for data and statistics. Driven by her compassion for others, Cathy pursued a career in clinical psychology, earning her master’s degree at LaSalle University followed by her doctorate at Drexel University. She spent over two decades serving the behavioral health communities in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties.
Cathy married Art P. Bolton III in 1980, and together they raised their daughter, Katie, until Art’s passing in 1999. Cathy had an effervescent spirit and embraced fun and adventure. She loved to travel and wanted to be anywhere that had a beach, a book, or a boat. Cathy was an avid Alabama football and Philadelphia Phillies fan, never missing a chance to cheer on her teams.
Cathy’s tenacity, kindness, and generous heart will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Cathy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Art; parents, Billy and Joan Hardman; and brother, Larry Hardman.
Cathy is survived by her daughter, Katie Bolton (Matt Grzywacz); sister, Jennifer Knellinger (Dan); mother-in-law, Mildred Bolton Orr; nephew, Bart Knellinger (Mary); nieces, Stacey Verkler (Brandon), Jill Schmidt (Jared), and Carol Bou-Sliman (Andrew); 5 grandnieces and 5 grandnephews; as well as cousins and dear friends and colleagues.
A visitation for Cathy will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, Montevallo, Alabama, followed by a celebration of life at 2 PM.
