Eric Eduardo Samaniego, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Colon, Panama, on January 19, 1937, Eric was a man of many passions and accomplishments, living a life full of love, laughter, and generosity.
Known for his charisma, humor, and unwavering kindness, Eric touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a proud Eagle Scout, a sailor who found peace on the water, and a talented guitar player whose love for music—especially karaoke—brought joy to his family and friends.
As a professional engineer, Eric made his mark by contributing to numerous construction projects across four continents. But beyond his career, he was a devoted member of his faith and community. Eric was a Catechist at Saint Benedict’s Church and a passionate advocate for health and well-being, leading programs to support these causes. He was equally committed to education, offering support and mentorship to countless young people as they pursued their academic and professional aspirations.
Eric’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, the lessons he imparted, and the boundless love he shared with his family and friends. His gentle spirit and thirst for life continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Eric is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many dear friends. A celebration of his life will be held on December 18, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity’s 1931 Foundation, an organization to which Eric belonged and treasured.
May Eric rest in peace, and may his remarkable life continue to inspire future generations.
