Donald Edwin Robinson

He was a loving husband, devoted father and cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by LaVerne, his loving wife of 63 years, his brother Ray (Linda), his children Shawn (Patty), Laurie (Sean), Colleen (Neru), his 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Myrtle Robionson.

Don met LaVerne on a blind date to the Policeman's Ball while serving in the Marines (it was love at first sight) and proposed 6 months later. He began his "post-military" career with General Mills, moving to Nampa, Idaho for 3 years before returning to Arcadia, California in 1963 to work for Vestal Laboratories and then with Merck Pharmaceutical where he worked for over 30 years, receiving numerous national awards and being promoted to District manager before retiring in 1996. He was known at all his positions as a "sharp" man of integrity and character, a leader with a special gift for building friendships while working as a skilled sales representative.

He was an active member and elder at Arcadia Presbyterian church (now Arcadia Community Church) and a long-time member and leader of Toastmasters International. Don was also a volunteer with the Arcadia Police Department as a "VIP" and head of the crossing guards. He loved long distance bike rides with his good friends Fred, Darryl and Wally and participated in a local investment club with friends and neighbors.

Don and LaVerne enjoyed many travels and adventures over the years, but most importantly loved parenting together---Don as a baseball coach, Scout leader and leader of Indian Guides and Indian Maidens. He attended many of the kids events and activities over the years.

We will so miss this wonderful man. We will cherish his memory and will place our hope in Jesus Christ the we will see him again.

A Celebration of Life will occur at Arcadia Community Church 121 Alice Street, on Saturday, January 29th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations on Don's memory can be made to Arcadia Community Church or Focus on the Family.
