Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Gerda Hayes and Lorraine Behr and her four children, Kathy Ann DeSteCroix, Peggy Lee Gill, Scott Robert Divers, Tim Alan Divers, along with 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
All throughout her life, Ruth was an avid grower of lots of flowers, especially beautuful roses. Ruth, busy in her senior years, taught herself to crochet 100's of afghans, snowflakes, towels, and lap-robes given away at nursing homes. At the age of 72, Ruth learned to bowl and joined a bowling league. Ruth was a member of her church senior choir which performed for many assisted living facilities, giving joy to those living there.
Ruth's loving, adventurous spirit, demonstrated by volunteering at the Children's Hospital in Texas and the Cancer Society thrift shop in Washington, also resulted in her living in Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington State, Texas, Arizona, and Hawaii, always growing fabulous flowers in every location. A friend of hers called Ruth, "the Johnny Appleseed of flowers and roses."
And finally, Ruth has been called home to heaven where it is certain that she will continue to grow her beloved flowers.
No services are being held. For over 60 years, Ruth sponsored many needy children in the Christian organization, World Vision, so any donations in Ruth Joyce's memory can be made to World Vision.
