Mary passed away peacefully in her sleep at Regency of Monroe, following a severe stroke she suffered almost one year ago.
Mary was one of twelve children born to Leon and Harriet Hill, of Ballard. She is survived by her son Bryan (Linda), grandsons Jeff (Nicole) and David, great-grandchildren Bailey, Olivia, Lincoln and Ethan, her sisters Margaret and Alice and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clifford and sons David and Kevin.
Mary and Cliff made their home in Ballard for many years, moving to Monroe in 1971. Mary kept her close ties with her Seattle friends; in fact the Monroe home became a gathering place for many lively visits. The “Ballard Girls” always had a special place in her heart.
Mary was a wonderful homemaker and worked many years at the Learn and Play Center. She remembered all of her “Monroe Kids” who were on the receiving end of her great sense of humor,
wit and special pieces of encouragement.
Mary enjoyed her home and garden. She loved making and gifting Melnick pickles and salsa. She was very social and a long time member of the Monroe Eagles #2327. She and Cliff were often visited at their special table in the social room. Later in life, Mary had great fun with the Red Hat ladies, attending meetings and outings like the Monroe Parade. She always eagerly looked forward to any casino visit and loved going to Reno. She especially enjoyed shopping with her dear best friend Judy.
Mary was a warm and loving person who was very proud of her Irish heritage.
IRISH BLESSING
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields and
Until we meet again
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
Mary was a giving person. She never forgot to light a candle as her boys left to go north fishing. So, Mary there will be a candle for you now.
Memorial maybe made to the charity of your choice or the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial, Fishermen’s Terminal, Seattle.
Mary is already deeply missed.
