After 92 years of a life well-lived, Marilyn Olson, of Monroe, WA, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2022 with her daughter by her side. Born Marilyn Lind to Martha and John Lind in Monroe, WA, she grew up in Park Place (Monroe) and graduated from Monroe High School in 1947. She married Carl Palmer Olson in 1948 and they built their family home on Yeager Road.
After retiring from Safeway as a meat wrapper, Marilyn and Palmer traveled extensively in their motorhome with friends and enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Conconully, WA.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly loved her family and friends. One of her greatest loves was passing on the tradition of making Swedish Tunnbröd at the family Bakehouse to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life was full of unique interests and hobbies. She was a talented quilter and quilted with the Monroe Senior Center, giving her cherished masterpieces to family, friends and charities. She also loved gardening and was a member of the Monroe Garden Club since1956. She enjoyed making ceramics, stained glass, tole painting, braiding wool rugs and wreathmaking. She has left loving memories we will forever hold in our hearts.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer, parents Martha and John Lind, sister Delores Thomas and father and mother-in-law Carl and Jenny Olson.
She is survived by her three children, Randy (Maryann) Olson, Janine (Jim) Law, Dale (Becky) Olson; grandchildren, Bryan (Emily) Olson and Brooke Olson, Travis (Lauren) and Tyler (Tyler) Law, Whitney (Brian) Steyerman and seven great-grandchildren; Michael, Pierce, Walker, Tatum, Baker, Hawkins, Piper; sister Shirley Trombley and sister-in-law Lorrine Olson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
At her request, a graveside service will be held at the IOOF Cemetery in Monroe with immediate family.
