The following tribute was written by his granddaughter Trish:
My granddad Jerry Stackpole passed away peacefully last night in his sleep surrounded by family. If there is a best way to go that is probably it. He was a lot of things to a lot of different people – brother, son, husband of 65 years, father of 4, grandfather of 8, great-grandfather of 6. He was an Army veteran, a business owner, a lineman, a lover of everything with a motor (particularly tractors), an adventurer, an engineer, and a certified smartass. You really could not spend more than a few minutes in his company without lots of laughing and eye rolling. Above all, I really hope that he is remembered for his generosity. He volunteered for and supported countless causes over his life. He was the Post Commander of the VFW 7511 many times. Volunteered with his community center for decades. He volunteered at the drug and alcohol treatment center and helped many people on their journey to become sober. He also supported the Monroe Historical Society. Despite being on hospice, he was still doing volunteer work in his last weeks. His large collection of antique tractors was his pride and joy, second only to his family. We love you so much Granddad, please rest easy, you’ve more than earned it.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Stackpole, mother, Frances (Kootsie) Spreiter, brothers Dale and Robin Stackpole and grandparents John and Emma Platt, all from Idaho.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary Ann Murphy Stackpole of Monroe WA, they were married on July 18, 1959 in Davenport WA.
