Born on July 26, 1929 to the late David Alexander and Sarah Estelle McRorie Helms, Mary was 1 of 12 children as well as the oldest. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and needlework (knitting, crocheting, and embroidery) as well as reading and doing word search puzzles.
Along with her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Javan Morris Clontz; son, Morris Clontz; and grandson, Michael Kiker (Kristen). She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Kiker of Polkton, North Carolina; son, Larry Clontz of Monroe, North Carolina; grandchildren, Penny Schwab (John) of Lawndale, North Carolina; Wayne Kiker of Polkton, North Carolina, Dale Clontz (Tara) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Steven Clontz of Greensboro, North Carolina; as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held following the visitation at 1:15 pm with burial immediately following the service at Lucy Helms Cemetery in Monroe, North Carolina.
