Born on July 30th, 1944 to the late Edward and Annie Simpson Deese, Larry was a Union County native and was a graduate of Forest Hills High School. He had many interests and hobbies including clogging, umpiring, coaching baseball, and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Larry was also a hard worker and worked at various places including doing maintenance at Perfit Industries as well as a truck driver for Simpson Eggs, Harris Teeter, and Monroe Hardware before retiring.
Along with his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his son, Reggie Deese, Jr.; brothers, Oliver J. “Doc” Deese, Ray Deese, Charles Deese, Bedford Deese, and Lamar Deese; sisters, Eileen Powers, Louise Smith, Evelyn Penniger, Linda Rolfe, and Patty Sue Deese. He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Deese; children, Timothy Deese (Missy), and Kimberly Stegall (Clayton); grandchildren, Erika Faile (Anthony), Megan Deese, Lauren Deese, Hunter Deese, Hudson Deese, and Kaycee Stegall (RJ); great-grandchildren, Kira Faile, Skylar Faile, Abby Mchaffey, Cooper Jackson, and Dakota Aldridge; and sister, Mavis Dew.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Lakeland Memorial Park, located at 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mt. Moriah Methodist Church; 6722 Hwy 218 E. Marshville, North Carolina, 28103.
