He was born in Wesley Chapel, N.C. on February 25, 1944, son of the late Lee and Hattie Steele Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Irene Davis and by his first wife, Sandra Medlin Davis.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of Sun Valley High School in 1962. He graduated from Wingate Junior College, received his BS in Agriculture Education at NC State University and his Masters in Agriculture Education at NC State University. He was the Agriculture Teacher at Bowman High School, Forest Hills High School and Indian Land High School. He also served as the Western Region Agriculture Education Coordinator.
Jerry was awarded the Honorary American Degree, the Order of the Long Leaf Pine and the Indian Land High School Outstanding Teacher for 4 consecutive years. He was a member of multiple organizations including Union United Methodist Church, was an FFA Advisor, NCATA (North Carolina Association of Agriculture Teachers Association), he was the Union County Soil and Water Conservation Commissioner, a member of the Farm Bureau, Wesley Chapel Park and Recreation Committee, the Union County Cattlemen’s Association and Wesley Chapel Fire Department Board of Directors.

Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Jean Davis; his daughter, Sherry Tupper and husband, Brian; his son, Brian Davis and wife, Melissa and son, Chris Davis and wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Bryce Davis, Braydon Davis, Brandy Crosson, Nicole Lear, Graham Tupper and Jessica Tupper and by his great-grandchildren, Sophie Crosson, Taryn Crosson, Christopher Crosson, Avery Lear and Kye Lear.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 9:00pm Thursday, June 10, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Davis will be held at 2:00pm Friday, June 11, 2021 at Siler Presbyterian Church. A private interment will follow the service.
