Born on April 2, 1962, Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, family member, and friend. He spoke his mind but always did so with a heart of gold behind his thoughts. A resident of Monroe, he shared his life with his soulmate and wife for 37 years, LaDonna Wilson. He enjoyed sharing time with all his family and friends but especially cherished spending time with his wife at Chimney Rock. A respected member to the flooring community, Richard found a work home with Garmon and Company. He was also a great asset to the community, buying locally, and giving a hand when needed. On Gameday, you would always see him support his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers, by wearing his jersey or hat. He will be loved and missed beyond words.
Richard is preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Wilson; and niece, Jewel Ann Whitlow. He is survived by his father, Bobby Lee Wilson, loving wife, LaDonna Culp Wilson; children, Amanda Wilson and Phillip Wilson (Kristie); grandchildren, Cameron Wilson, Haley Williams, Gavin Wilson, Landon Wilson, Zhoie Wilson, and Nova Wilson; and three great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include Billy and Dawn Culp, Joey and Lisa Culp, Cindy and Brian Whitlow, Marcus Stanford, Sonya Doby and her husband; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Minnie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Richard’s life will then be held at 2:15 pm in the McEwen Colonial Chapel with burial following immediately after the service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
