Iris Griffin Kiker, 84, of Unionville passed away at home on January 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Union County on April 26, 1938 to the late Carniece and Mary Elizabeth Griffin. Iris was a quiet, meek woman who loved her role as both a homemaker and devoted wife of a pastor. She enjoyed canning and cooking, was a talented seamstress and loved gardening and spending time working in her yard. Iris was always active in the church. In her spare time, Iris enjoyed doing puzzles and playing board games.
In addition to her parents, Iris is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Rev. Joe Lee Kiker, sister, Ann Deese, great-grandson, Andrew Kiker and grandson-in-law, Matthew Langston. She is survived by her children, Randy (Karen) Kiker, Charles (Linda) Kiker, Debra Smith and Vickie Ring; grandchildren, Amanda Langston, Randy (Victoria) Kiker Jr., Becky (Charlie) Honeycutt, Ryan (Christina) Kiker, Stephanie (Dustin) Parker, Jackson Smith, Cassidy Ring and Emilee Ring. Her great-grandchildren include Allison Langston, Addallee Langston, Joseph Kiker, Benjamin Kiker, Samuel Kiker, Great-grandaughter Kiker (due in February), Benjamin Gerber, Carson Honeycutt, Brody Kiker, Kaylie Parker, Kenzie Parker and Graiden Parker. Iris also leaves behind her siblings, Don (Martha) Griffin, Emsley (Martha) Griffin, Barbara Bodenheimer, Jack Griffin, Vickie Griffin and Denise (Rodney) Preslar.
The family will receive friends at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe on Friday, February 3 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held in McEwen’s Colonial Chapel on Saturday, February 4 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
