Gerrie was born on February 11, 1948 in New Kensington, Pittsburgh, PA. She was a loving wife, step-mother and grandmother as well as a special mom to her fur babies. Gerrie, along with her husband Ray, lived in Hong Kong and Japan as well as the United States. She was active in TELL "Samaritan's" Japan and The Global Fund for Mental Health. She was very active in visiting and supporting two hospitals in Tanzania, Africa. Gerrie was a member of Central Church of God in Charlotte, where she did extensive pastoral care and also supported her husband Ray in his Bible study teaching. She held a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh and was the first member of her family to graduate from university.
Gerrie was predeceased by her parents, Virgil Lee and Anna Pearl Rabb. She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Ray Butler; stepchildren, Sarah Eaves (Max), Dominic Beasant (Claire), Rebecca Gilroy (Paul), Gemma Ward (Phil), Anna Todhunter (Tony), and Katie Gough (Matt); niece, Pauline Seward-Clark (Steve); brothers, Virgil Lee Rabb, Jr. (Judy) and Michael Rabb (Jill); nephew, Jared Rabb; nine grandchildren, Lottie, Katie, Rebekah, Joshua, Dolcie, Daisy, Conner, Callum, and Lucy; and one great-granddaughter, Kara.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” service for Gerrie at Central Church of God, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 on Wednesday June 28th, 2023.
1 pm Visitation, 2 pm Service. All are invited.
