Georgia Lee Witmore

Born August 25, 1929 in Union County, she was a daughter of the late George and Nancy Brooks Newsome. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Witmore; son, Allen Crump; infants, William Lee Crump and Baby Boy Crump; son-in-law, Calvin McCarver; and siblings, J.B. Newsome, Grover Newsome, Cathyleen Newsome, Dorothy Mullis, and Shirley Griffin.

Georgia was a remarkable woman; strong, kindhearted, nurturing, compassionate, tireless caregiver, with a legacy of love that touched countless lives. She was the pillar of her family; always there with outstretched arms to provide support, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her gentle spirit and guiding light will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Anita McCarver and Wanda Plyler (Scott Little); sons, David Crump (Linda) and Mike Witmore (Amber); eight grandchildren, Beth Crump (Shane Mims), Brian Crump, Brandon Plyler (Jessica), Travis Plyler (Nancy), Adeline and Camille Witmore, and Donnie and Tim Campbell; nine great-grandchildren, Romy, Issac, Jacob, Kayleigh, J.D., David, Daniel, Cole, and Dalton; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 2:15 pm at Midway Baptist Church, located at 4615 Olive Branch Road, Wingate, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. Burial will follow immediately after the service at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Midway Baptist Church, 4615 Olive Branch Road, Wingate, NC 28174.
