One incredible person left this earthly place to be amongst the stars this past week; Gale Hubbard Brown. Our family is deeply saddened to lose his soul, but know he is starting the greatest journey there is. If you knew Gale, you would know what a wonderful friend, loving father and spouse he was. He was the rock of our family.
Gale was born on November 26, 1946 to the late parents, George and Vivian Brown of Marion, NC. He attended Appalachian and Old Dominion Universities. Gale was able to use the knowledge he gained to become a leader in the Boy Scout Troop 1 of First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, guiding many young boys to become Eagle Scouts. He was very proud of helping create our leaders for tomorrow. Gale also had a great love of all things aquatic and helped educate many people in this community.
Gale is survived by his wife, Linda Brown; daughter, Misty Fox (Jeff); son, Jonathan Phipps (Tiffany); and sister, Gay Barefield (Danny). He has eight grandchildren; Lauren (age 18), Aidan (age 11), Caleb (age 20), Tristan (age 15), Eli (age 12), Kenadie (age 15), Presley (age 13), and Averie (age 11). He is also survived by two nieces, Heather (age 47) and Holly (age 42).
There will be a private cremation and the family will receive visitors for a celebration of life at Bethany Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall located at 6713 Plyler Mill Road in Monroe, NC from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022. McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe is honored to serve the Brown family.
