Born on July 21, 1931 to the late Lawrence and Johnnie Marsh, Doris was a Union County native who served faithfully as a pastor’s wife alongside her husband Roy for over 45 years. Part of her ministry involved sending cards and making phone calls to anyone she knew. She especially loved watching Hallmark movies and spending time with her family.
Along with her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy Yow; children, Kevin and Joan Yow; and sisters, Helen Crot and Louise Rowell. She is survived by her son, Rev. Rod Yow (Lorie); grandchildren, Melissa Surratt (Zane), Mallory Yow (fiancé Christopher), Brandie Burleson, Charlotte Ross and Amber Beacham (Travis) and Jordan Clodfelter (fiancé Cherokee); great-grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Bryson, Conley, Gracelyn, Reagan, Maci, Chloe, Brantley, Joslyn, and Maddox; and brother, Dale Marsh (Zettie).
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at New Salem Baptist Church, located at 2915 Goldmine Road, Monroe, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm at New Salem Baptist Church with burial following immediately after the service at Lakeland Memorial Park.
