Clyde Verner Hicks

Mr. Clyde Verner Hicks, age 81, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Autumn Care in Marshville with his wife by his side. Born July 30th, 1934 in Alexander Mills, N.C., he was the son of the late Wayne and Lorena Hicks of Fort Mill, S.C. He was a graduate of Fort Mill High School and served three years in the U.S. Navy. Clyde worked for Equifax Services for 23 years as an Insurance Inspector and for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years as a rural letter carrier. He retired in 1999. He was an active member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. One of his greatest joys was serving as music director for many years there and at other churches.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean Jackson Hicks of Monroe. Daughter; Connie Hicks Wiel (Randy), and grandson Alexander Wiel of Murfreesboro, TN. Two sister-in-laws and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Lorena Hicks; four brothers, one sister and one niece.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 12 noon until 2:00 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4013 New Town Road, Waxhaw, N.C. Celebration of Life services will follow at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in Lakeland Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Union County, their Oak Grove Baptist Church family and their wonderful neighbors for all the love and support over the years. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church or Hospice of Union County.
