Bonnie was born on June 27, 1950, in Heidelberg, Germany. She lived most of her life in Mississippi, retiring to North Carolina in 2015.
Bonnie had an interesting career as the first female feed and grain reporter for the state of Mississippi as well as working in the lobbying industry for the state of Mississippi for over 20 years. After retirement, she moved to Monroe, North Carolina and devoted her time and love to her family, friends and church. She was an active member at Lee Park Church of Monroe and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Ann and Singleton “Demp” Johnson, and husband, Newton McCormick. She is survived by her sister, Betty Boone of Vaiden, MS; her children, Carmen Carlson of Monroe, NC, Justin Stout, Pamela Brantzeg , John McCormick , and Scott McCormick of Mississippi, and Mary Lirette of Louisiana ; five grandchildren, Eric, Kristofer, Konner, Brianna, and Kaylee; and great granddaughter, Skylar.
Bonnie requested a celebration of life be held in her honor in lieu of a traditional funeral service. The celebration will be held at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe, located at 204 South Main Street, Monroe, NC, on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Lee Park Church, www.leeparkchurch.org, in her honor.
