Bobby Greene

He was born in Monroe, NC on May 16, 1933 to the late Clyde and Ollie Greene.

He was preceded in death by his second wife of 33 years, Peggy C. Greene; first wife of 32 years and mother of their three children, Betty Bush Greene; his daughter Debbie Lynn Hall; and 3 brothers and 5 sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Sheri Denise Miles of Black Mountain, NC and Robin Greene Stroud of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Kristen Guthrie (John), Kevin Hobbs, Caroline Nelson (Seth), Michaela Pope, Katherine Carter (Jacob); great grandchildren, Alex and Lynnsey Tabor, Landon, Cameron, and Braxton Guthrie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

After growing up in Monroe, Bobby’s family moved to Charlotte where he attended school and later joined the U.S. Army. After his time in service, he returned home where he met the love of his life, his first wife Betty. They got married in December of 1954 and welcomed their three baby girls in 1956, 1960, and 1964. Bobby was a devoted husband and father. He had an outstanding work ethic and built a thriving electrical contracting business. While he worked tirelessly to provide for his family, he also favored spending time creating lasting memories with his family at the beach.

Bobby was an active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church and a charter member at East Baptist Church where he served on the building committee. Later in life, he and his wife Peggy returned to live in Union County where they became members of New Hope Baptist Church. More important than church membership was Bobby’s abiding faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He displayed a genuine love and acceptance for others. His caring nature and giving heart impacted all who knew him.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, May 17th, 2023 at 10:30 AM at New Hope Baptist Church located at 5928 New Salem Road in Marshville, NC with the memorial service following at 11:30 AM. The internment service will then be held at Sharon Memorial Gardens after the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the New Hope Baptist building fund at 5928 New Salem Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
