Bennie Franklin Fisher, 79, of Monroe, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 5, 2016. He was born in Charlotte, NC to the late Fred and Nellie Fisher. He was preceded in death by wife Sandra Puckett Fisher and sisters, Elizabeth Fisher, Frances Whisenant, Mary Lee Hayes, and Carol Jean Long and brothers Joe Fisher, Charles Fisher and Gary Fisher. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Fisher (Oates), daughter Mary Fisher, son Robert Fisher (Kelly), sister Freddie Fesperman and grandchildren Andrew, Josiah, Grace, John and Chase.
He was an Army veteran. After careers in construction, computers and farming, he was called to the mission field to be a full time missionary and was the Founder and President of Sandra’s House Mayan Ministry in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. He dedicated the last 16 years of his life to helping Mayan Christians spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. His ministry reached may lives for the glory of God. Bennie magnified Jesus in his life and death. Glory to God in the Highest!
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe, NC, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. Funeral will be Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 11:00am, at Joy Christian Fellowship, 11516 Idlewild Road, Matthews, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to Sandra’s House Mayan Ministry, P.O. Box 1668, Monroe, NC 28111.
