He was born on October 22, 1919 to Fred and Beatrice (Porter) Waite in Bingley, England and came to the U.S. as an infant. The family became citizens and settled in Stratford, CT where he graduated from high school and completed his apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker. He married Geraldine on Flag Day, June 14, 1941 and shortly thereafter joined the Navy where he served on PT boats in the Pacific. Upon returning home, he and his wife built a home in Monroe, and he spent the remainder of his career in carpentry at Tomlinson, Hawley, and Patterson where he was shop foreman.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a 54 year member of Fairfield County Fish & Game Protective Association (F.C.F.& G. P.A.).
He is survived by his children: Ken, Jr. and Barbara Waite, Jim and Paula Waite, all of Monroe, and Wendy and Urgel Cadieux of Vermont, 6 grand-sons, 1 granddaughter, several great-grandchildren, as well as extended family. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Florence Squier of Stratford and a sister-in-law, Teddy Waite of California.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, sister Hilda Ray Cooper, and brothers, Donald and Leslie Waite.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 21st, at 10:30 a.m. in the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Tpke., Monroe with the Rev. Kurt Huber officiating. Interment will follow at East Village Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, June 20th, from 4-8p.m . at the funeral home.
