Judith "Judy" Hamilton

She grew up in the Stratfield section of Fairfield, graduating from Rodger Ludlow High School in 1953. She went on to comptometer school in Bridgeport and worked for General Electric where she met her husband, Bill. She always had a taste for fashion and enjoyed walking in their annual spring fashion show.

Judy and Bill moved to Monroe in 1960, where she resided for over 60 years raising her two children, Scott & Jill, before residing at the Jewish Home (Mozaic Jewish Home) in Bridgeport, CT.

Judy served as the parish secretary at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Monroe, now known as St. Peters Grace Episcopal Church for 50 years, working with six Reverends. As secretary of the church Judy handled all the records and correspondents. Each week, she would produce and assemble the church bulletins herself.

As a member of the congregation for 55 years she enjoyed singing in the church choir, belonged to the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) group, developed the Apple Festival, and served as chairman of the craft vendors. For decades, she organized and ran many community events at the church.

Judy was always on the go. Her favorite activities included watching shows at Center Stage Theater, taking various bus trips all over the east coast, as well as spending lots of time with her sisters Janet and Joy, they were known as “the sisters”.

Judy was a beautiful person inside and out, she cared so deeply for the people around her. She was a kind and compassionate individual who always put others before herself. Judy’s selflessness really shined as she would take care of anyone in need, delivering food, driving to appointments, church, and grocery shopping. But more importantly she was a great friend that many could lean on.

Judy was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star in Monroe for over 50 years, Volunteered for the voter registration Town for Monroe, member of the Monroe senior center and Derby Historical Society.

She is predeceased by her Husband William (Bill) Hamilton III, Sister Joy Dubail, and Brother Robert MacDonald. Survivors include Son, Scott Hamilton of Southbury, Daughter, Jill and her husband John Fitzpatrick of Shelton, Granddaughters who affectionately called her Nana, Amanda and her Husband Jeff Bernor of Derby, Julia and her Fiancé Alex Roberge of Meriden and first great-grandchild Baby Bernor due January 2024. Sister, Janet Spinning of Ansonia, Brother, Ray (Schelle) MacDonald of Warwick, Rhode Island. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

All are invited to calling hours on Thursday September 28, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Tpke., Monroe, Ct. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday September 29, 2023, 11:00am at St. Peter’s Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, Ct.
