Jane Matson Cottle, beloved wife of William D. Cottle, Sr., passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Masonicare Health Center of Wallingford, CT. She was born on March 31, 1928 to the late Ernest A. and Anna D. Matson. Jane was a resident of Monroe, CT for more than 40 years until retirement to Circle Bay Yacht Club of Stuart, FL and Masonicare at Ashlar Village of Wallingford, CT. Jane was a vivacious, quick witted woman who was never without a smile and could recall a name, date or face at anytime. She loved and cherished her family, enjoyed playing bridge, visiting with friends, and traveling with her husband, Bill. Jane also enjoyed numerous employment positions from CBS Television, the Monroe Police Department, to ten years in the main office at Masuk High School where her unofficial responsibility was being a second "mom" to many students. She is survived by her six children, William Cottle, Jr. and Jeanne Holcombe of East Hartland, CT, Nancy Johnson and husband Scott of Monroe, CT, Linda Harvey and husband Greg of East Hartford, CT, Laura Larson and Don Smith of Mashpee, MA, Richard Cottle and wife Brooke (Haggerty) of Severna Park, MD, and Robert Cottle and wife Catherine (Molloy) of Milford, CT. Jane is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Jennifer and Lauren Johnson of Monroe, CT, Sean and Rebecca Harvey of East Hartford, CT, and Grace Cottle of Milford, CT. A funeral service for Jane will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 175 Old Tannery Road, Monroe, CT. Friends may call Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut.
