Peggy attended St. Irenaeus in Park Forest, St. Joseph’s in Homewood and Infant Jesus of Prague in Flossmoor and graduated from Marian Catholic High School in 1966. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Governor’s State University in University Park.
She had a successful career as a financial adviser with Norwest Financial, Hamilton Investments and First Midwest Bank.
In retirement, Peggy returned to her first love, art, and became an accomplished painter in all mediums. Her work was displayed throughout the Chicagoland and selected for juried gallery shows in the Fine & Performing Arts Center Robert F. Decaprio Art Gallery, the Art Barn School of Art, the Tall Grass Arts Association, The Art of Illinois Juried Art Competition, The Frankfort Arts Association, The Fine Line Creative Arts Center, the FAA at Studio C and others.
She loved the beaches of Lake Michigan, music, food, festivals and parties, the Chicago Bears and White Sox — and her speedy and mischievous dog, Sprout.
She is survived by: her loving son, Vincent (Susannah) Hodges; her beloved fiancé Conrad Kiebles, caregiver, soulmate and best friend; her cherished grandchildren, Haley and Mac Hodges; her treasured siblings, Ann (Frank) Wilder and Gordon “Mac” McKerral; her adored nieces and nephew, Shannon (Ribhe) Zegar, Thomas G. (Heather) Felton and Eve (Chris) Little; three great nephews; a great niece, two great-great nephews and one great-great niece; Conrad's devoted daughters: Melissa and Lisa and their beautiful daughters: Samantha, Madalyn, Evelyn, Nicolette and Vivian.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents: Gordon D. “Mack” and Mary M. McKerral and twin sister, M. Catherine “Cathy” Taylor.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Skyline Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 24800 S. Governor’s Highway, Monee, Illinois. A chapel memorial service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Park.
