away peacefully on December 19th, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born on July 16, 1936, in
Tuskegee, Alabama in his family home to Elinor Lewis Curtright and William Henry Curtright
also of Tuskegee.
Dr. Curtright was a dedicated and compassionate physician who spent his life in service to
others. He graduated from Auburn University in 1958 with a degree in pre-medicine, where he
was a proud member of the Auburn basketball team and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He
earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham in
1962, followed by a rotating internship at Mobile General Hospital in 1963. He started practicing
family medicine in Jackson, AL where he later moved his family and practice to Monroeville
where he worked with Drs Rayford Smith Sr and Jr. His passion for medicine led him to pursue
a specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology, completing his residency at UAB in 1972, where he
was honored to serve as chief resident.
In 1975, Dr. Curtright began his private practice in OB/GYN before later partnering with his dear
friend and colleague, Dr. Frank Long, to form Mobile Bay OB/GYN. He devoted his career to his
patients and was deeply involved in many medical organizations. Dr.Curtright held leadership
roles with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Medical Association of the
State of Alabama, and the Mobile County Medical Association, among others. He was a
passionate educator, serving as a Clinical Associate Professor of OB/GYN at the University of
South Alabama, and his legacy as a physician is reflected in the countless lives he touched
throughout his distinguished career.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Curtright was an avid golfer and a member of the Senior Golf Club at
the Country Club of Mobile. He loved to travel and cherished time spent with his family and
friends. His greatest joy, however, was being surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and his beloved dogs.

Lucille Hocklander Curtright. He is survived by his children, Laura Curtright Glassburn
