William Oliver Miller (Bill) - went to be with his heavenly father on December 6, 2012. He was born Dec. 11, 1932 in Bogalusa, LA, later moving to and becoming a life long resident of Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Pittman Miller; his parents, David and Carrie Miller; one brother and two sisters. He is survived by seven children, Steven Miller (Esperanza) of Wichita, KS, Richard Miller of Mobile, AL, Dr. Geary Miller (Deborah Cole) of Morristown, TN, Michael Miller, Bobbie Gayle Miller (Wayne Emanuel), Stephanie Miller (Barry Patterson) and Bradley Miller (Felicia), all of Mobile, AL; one brother, Edward Miller (Carole) of Centennial, CO; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He had a great affection for his grand-dog “Hobo”. Mr. Miller was a graduate of Murphy High School. After a very long and successful career, he retired from Conwood Corp. He was a long time member of Orchard Baptist Church. Mr. Miller was known for refereeing many local high school football games, umpiring local high school baseball games, and many church softball teams. He was a very loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. The family would like to thank the physicians who took such great care of their father over the years, Glen Cochran, M.D., Keith Varden, M.D. and Chris Dyas, M.D. Also, special thanks to the nurses at Mobile Infirmary MICU who also took such great care of their father, especially to Cherie, Pete, and Ashley. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home with Rev. George Riek, pastor of Orchard Baptist Church, officiating. A reception will be held after the funeral at Orchard Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Overlook Rd. Interment will be in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
