Thomas Eugene Schmaeling – an 88 year-old native of Fulton, AL, former resident of Montgomery, AL and current resident of Mobile passed away Monday, May 18, 2015. Mr. Schmaeling was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. A longtime food broker, he retired after 50 years with companies such as China Doll and W.T. Sims. Following his retirement, Mr. Schmaeling worked as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melba Park Schmaeling; son, Dana Eugene Schmaeling; and brothers, Ben Schmaeling and Bert Schmaeling. He is survived by his sisters, Sarah Schmaeling Lilley and Marie Schmaeling Norris (James); grandchildren, Thomas Eugene Schmaeling II and Anne Schmaeling; great-grandson, Thomas Luke Schmaeling; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Friday, May 22, 2015, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. chapel service with the Very Reverend James F. Zoghby officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church or Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
