Terry Glasscock knew God, loved people, and made disciples. He was a teacher at heart, a fierce competitor, and a humorous storyteller. Terry was raised in Georgetown, Alabama where he enjoyed playing softball, hunting, and fishing. Terry graduated from Mary G. Montgomery where he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years, Candy Williams Glasscock. Terry received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of South Alabama. After college, he began impacting the lives of students as a baseball and football coach and teaching history and drivers ed at Mary G. Montgomery. Terry and Candy joined Wilmer Baptist Church in August of 1975. In September of 1981, Terry obediently answered the call to ministry joining the staff team as Youth Minister and Associate Pastor of Wilmer Baptist Church. Terry then transitioned into Senior Pastor in January 2001 where he faithfully served until his passing.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, James William (Merriam) Glasscock and Uda Vella Miller (Boots) Glasscock, and his brother, Ricky Glasscock. Terry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Candy Glasscock; his three children, April Messer (Jimmy), Tara Druckenmiller (Billy), and Jason Glasscock (Kelli); his sister, Gaye Clayton (Stan); his sister-in-law, Millie Reynolds (Don); and his brother-in-law, John Williams (Kelley). He has ten grandchildren, Sydney Bedgood (Wyatt), Mallory Price (Boyd), Drake Druckenmiller (Kristi), Storm Williams (Brittney), Drew Druckenmiller, Macy Messer, Davis Glasscock, Cooper Glasscock, Knox Glasscock, and Delaney Druckenmiller, and two great grandchildren, Harper Mae Bedgood and Blakely Williams, and numerous other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 10th beginning at 5:00 pm. The Celebration Service will be Wednesday, December 11th at 1:00 pm with a visitation starting at 11:00 am. All events will be at Wilmer Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Lott Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Compassion Fund at Wilmer Baptist Church.
