Peggy was born January 8, 1952 in Washington, Iowa to Alvin and Norma Hansen. Peggy attended Eldora High School. She began her educational journey at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa where she began study toward her nursing degree. She went on to receive her Bachelors in Nursing in 1986 from Kirksville Osteopathic School of Nursing in Missouri along with a degree in psychology. She continued her education at the University of Missouri where she received her MA in Nursing and became a licensed Nurse Practitioner. Peggy married her husband Jim Aucoin in 1990, and they moved to Evergreen, Alabama where she worked as a family practitioner. Peggy continued her education, and in 2000 she graduated from the University of Antigua Medical School. After moving to Mobile, Peggy finished her career with TruBridge as a Senior Consultant working primarily with physicians to help them learn to use electronic health records.
Peggy loved being on her sailboat Sorceress, traveling in Europe, and scuba diving throughout the Caribbean. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and crocheting. Peggy showed her entrepreneur skills by aiding the start of Hansen Heating and Air with her son and G’s Bakery with her brother Gene. Peggy will be remembered as an exuberant person who did everything lavishly; she seemed inexhaustible and her determination was epic.
Peggy is survived by her husband Jim; her son Chad and his wife Kim, her daughter Heidi and her husband Gary, stepdaughter Tamara and her husband Jason; her grandchildren Lindsay, Jake, Zach, Carson, Addison, Cade, Kennady, and Davis; her great grandchildren Brooklynn and Jaidynn, her brothers Stan (Faye), Les (Marilyn), Andrew (Gloria), Gene; and her best friend and sister Annette Baker (Rick); and a host of nieces and nephews, along with innumerable friends and co-workers. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Al and Norma Hansen of New Providence, Iowa.
A memorial service will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL.
The family invites friends to the service and to gather at G’s Bakery, at 1714 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL after her memorial service.
