Kathy is survived by nieces, Mary Kathleen Exley and Meredith Ashworth; great nephew, Stephen Cole Exley; brother- in- law, James Lewis Stephens; and faithful kitty, Big Sister. Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Jeanette and Mercer Sherer and her sister, Janet Stephens.
Upon graduating high school from Tuscaloosa High in 1964, Kathy attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. In 1967, she received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Mathematics, and became a math teacher in Tuscaloosa. Kathy went on to get her Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance in 1972. After graduation with her masters, Kathy moved to the Birmingham area where she continued to teach from 1972-1978. She then moved to Mobile, AL in 1978 where Kathy obtained her real estate license. She was an accomplished Realtor in the Mobile area from 1979- 2023, many of those years with LLBB. In 2016, Kathy obtained a Masters of Theology from Spring Hill College.
Kathy was not only passionate about life, but was an extremely spiritual, kind, giving, and loving person. She had an unrelinquished thirst for knowledge for ancestry, theology, arts, and self- improvement. Above all Kathy loved to serve her church, St Paul’s Episcopal, and her community. She was an active member The Order of St John and also served in the Junior League, Symphony Committee, Art Patrons League, and Opera Guild. Her loving soul will be greatly missed by her community, family and friends.
