Mary Ellen Jackson

Mary Ellen Murphy Jackson left this earthly home to meet Jesus on Sunday, May 14, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born in Augusta, Georgia on August 23, 1935, to the late Marshall Frederick and Linnie Hutson Murphy.

She was a devoted member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama for many years. Serving Jesus, she was the secretary of her Sunday School department, and assisted with baptisms. She was even known to rock newborns in the nursery, and fixing nachos for the Fall Festival was one of her favorite tasks!

From baseball little league parent duties to working election polls, work was never too small for Mary.

Left to cherish Mrs. Jackson’s memory are her loving husband of 68 years, Broughton (Jack) Jackson; children, Teri (Robert) Paul, Jr.; and Michael (Karla) Jackson; grandchildren, Phillip (Mona) Paul; Souix-Zin Paul; Mary Elizabeth Paul; Bradley (Laura) Jackson, Brittany Hope (Steven) Goodman, and Brooke Ellen Jackson; great-grandchildren, Angela Marie and Rayson Paul; Trent Jackson Cintorino; Jakob, Lillian and Patrick Goodman. Numbers of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends cherish the good natured, fun-loving Mary Ellen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Robert Donovan Paul, III.

The family of Mary Ellen Jackson wishes to express our gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for providing professional tender loving care to our loved one.

Services will take place at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Thursday, May 18, 2023. The family will accept friends and family from 1:00-2:00 with the funeral and interment to follow at 2:00 pm.
