Mary Helen Henderson Compton

Mrs. Mary Helen Henderson Compton, age 89, passed away at her home on Monday, August 7, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Compton, Jr., parents, B. C. Henderson and Bessie Harvey Henderson and brother, Harvey Henderson. Helen graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1950, receiving her teacher’s certificate and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She taught Business at Tunica County High School, Tunica, MS. Helen and Joe moved to Mobile in June, 1956. She was a longtime member of Cottage Hill Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her children; Mary Elizabeth Sumner, Joseph David Compton and Nina Compton Thomasson and her husband James F. Thomasson. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Christopher Michael McFarland, Andrew James Thomasson, Mary Katherine Thomasson and Sarah Elizabeth Thomasson. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Bay Springs Baptist Church, Shelby, AL on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O.
