Marvin Nolan Williams- Age 91, born February 26, 1932, a native and resident of Mobile, Alabama until moving to Grand Bay, Alabama in 2007 died Wednesday, March 29, 2023 surrounded by his three loving daughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lucious Thompson Williams, his mother, Eleanor Emma Odom Williams, his brother, Roland Ray Williams, and his beloved wife of 64 years 355 days, Kerren Serine Pihl Williams. Survivors include his three daughters, Agnes (Jimmy) Roebuck of Mobile, Alabama, Brenda (Doug) Thompson of Vancleave, Mississippi, and Cynthia (Raymond) Raby of Grand Bay, Alabama; his grandchildren, Paul Raby, Myra (Nick) Brookins, Rachel (Sidney) Raby-Howard; one great grandchild, Nova Ann Brookins.
Marvin was a graduate of Murphy High School. Marvin’s first job was throwing newspapers before he even owned a bike. He was a butcher for A & P grocery store prior to enlisting in the Navy. Marvin served in the Navy from 1951 to 1953 as a photographer aboard the USS Valley Forge. After serving in the Navy he became a salesman. He was a charter member of Grace Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder. He sold insurance, worked for Sunbeam bakery, Sunshine cookies, Jacks cookies, and Tom’s Foods. He was an avid Alabama football fan, and a dedicated family man who loved camping, dancing, and just being silly.
Funeral services will be held from the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 11 am. Visitation will be from 10-11 am with Pastor Phillip Melton of Grace Presbyterian Church officiating. A short graveside service with Military honors will follow.
