Luke David Gaither, USCG Ret., passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Clarence and Margaret Latham Gaither. Mr. Gaither retired as a Master Chief from the U.S. Coast Guard after more than 27 years of military service, which included 6 years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Gaither is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Sharon L. Gaither; children, Luke David Gaither, Jr. and Karen Gaither Lewis (Carl); grandchildren; Hailey Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Hollie Lewis, Lexy McPhail and great grandson, Maddox Hall. He is also survived by his sisters; Bernice Gaither (Tom McGee) of Winston-Salem, NC and Glenda Gaither Howell (Gary) of Mocksville, NC; sister-in-law, Lisa L. Stevens (Jeff) of Carrollton, TX; nieces, Duree H. Eddins, Lauren E. Stevens and nephew Monty C. House. Mr. Gaither enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and loved spending time with his family. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
