On September 7, 2022, Leslie Melvyn Kramer of Mobile passed at the age of ninety, surrounded by his beloved family. Les was born in 1932 to Max and Rose Kramer, growing up in St. Louis and Brooklyn. Following four years of service in the United States Navy, Les graduated from Auburn University in 1955 with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering. Les had two sons and a daughter, and, in 1980, married his kindred companion and perpetual partner, Sara, who had two sons. While he dedicated his career to the construction industry, Les’s dedication to building others is the edifice for which he will best be remembered.
Les’s love of nature, passion for heritage, and commitment to faith reflected a uniquely and radiantly joyous spirit. He was observant, thoughtful, and meticulous, a man of depth and detail. As his quick wit and hearty “War Eagle” reverberate in remembrance, so too will his strong senses of humor and hopefulness. Les described his life as blessed but blessed more so are the lives that touched his.
Les is preceded in death by his parents and dear sister, Doris Claire Stein, and Virginia Kramer. He is survived by his devoted wife and their five cherished children, Adam (Audrey) Kramer, Darron (Lynn) Claypool, Scott (Audra) Kramer, Bryan Claypool, and Ashley (Daniel) Hoey, five adored grandchildren, Austin (Emma) Kramer, Mallory Claypool, Jordan Kramer, Landon Kramer, and Braden Kramer, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.
