John Edward Quattlebaum was born on December 26, 1939, in Falkville, Alabama. His parents were John Larkin and Opal Quattlebaum and Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Quattlebaum of Hartsville, Ohio and great grandparents W.K. Wilcutt of Falkville, Al.
John Joined the military in 1961, at the age of 17 where he was trained as Military Police. He served with the 793rd Battalion. He was expert in carbine and pistol. While in the military he also served in Germany as CIS for 2 years. After returning to the states, he met his wife Deloris S. Martin Quattlebaum. John served in the armed forces for 7 years. After the military John took a position with the Pinkerton Detective Agency in Cincinnati, Ohio. While still with the Agency he was moved to Columbia, SC, Macon, GA and Jacksonville, FL. He stayed with the agency for 10 years then took a position with International Systems as a safety and security supervisor. He then moved to Mobile, Alabama and retired in 2016.
John Loved fishing, hunting, playing golf, watching westerns (John Wayne) and Spending time with his family whom he loved very much. After a long illness John Edward Quattlebaum 85, went to be with the lord on December 14, 2024. John will be missed by all his family and friends. Rest in peace you are loved.
John is survived by his wife of 59 ½ years, Deloris S. Martin Quattlebaum; daughter, Cynthia S. Quattlebaum Barnes; granddaughter, Kaitlyn C. Barnes.
John was preceded in death by his son, John Larkin Quattlebaum II, who went to heaven on December 14, 1988, his parents, grandparents and great grandparents; siblings, Herschel Quattlebaum, Wilma Looney, Virginia Jean Harber, Shirley “Jake” Quattlebaum and Janice Lickliter
Funeral Services for John will be on Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11 am from the Pine Crest Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 12pm until 2pm at Pine Crest Funeral Home.
