Jack Hardy Sweeting, Sr. born April 19, 1920 passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Mr. Sweeting is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Mary S. Sweeting and sons Jack and Michael. He was a graduate of Murphy High School in 1937. Mr. Sweeting retired after 41 years of service with Scott Paper Company and its successor Kimberly Clark Corp. in Mobile. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict serving as a Yeoman, First Class in the U.S. Naval construction battalion (C-Bees). His WWII service included duties in the Phillippines. Jack and his wife Mary owned and operated the Anniversary Shop in Mobile for several years. Mr. Sweeting is survived by his lifelong friend Jimmy Matthews and friends of many years Linda and Sherrell McAdams. Jack was most appreciative of the care he received from the staff and employees of Bay Ridge at Westminister Village in Spanish Fort during his later years and the hospice care provide by Gentiva Hospice especially his special friend Rev. Keith Johnson whose prayers and beautiful voice brought him much comfort and enjoyment. Jack was an intelligent and witty man, who was the epitome of a gentleman .
